Distinctive that Generates Equality in Higher Education Institutions
Mainstreaming and institutionalizing the gender perspective and peaceful coexistence with a restorative approach, human rights, intersectionality, and masculinities.
Network Equality and Peaceful Coexistence in Higher Education
In Mexico, there are many individuals, governments, institutions, and organizations truly committed to transforming the environments of violence, discrimination, and inequality in Higher Education Institutions (HEIs). Uniting this commitment, knowledge, and experience around gender equality will undoubtedly mark a turning point in the important challenge of balancing development opportunities for all, regardless of gender, ethnicity, socioeconomic status, disability, or age. This effort is essential to promoting respect for human rights and transforming educational institutions into spaces of peace, security, and growth.
The Network was created to collaborate with HEIs to effectively integrate a gender perspective into their work. Its objective is to implement mechanisms that promote gender equality and peaceful coexistence, thus improving the quality of education and the well-being of all Mexican women and men. I am convinced that this effort will bear fruit and that more intellectuals, public officials, legislators, governments, activists, members of civil society, academics, and the private sector will join this important, yet necessary, initiative.
It is essential that, as a society, we move toward a future where gender equality and healthy coexistence are not just ideals, but a tangible reality in all aspects of academic and professional life. With this initiative, we take a step forward toward a more just and respectful world, where equal opportunities are celebrated and become a driving force of social transformation and progress for all.
